Throwout Bearing Cross Shaft, '61 to '70 Type 1

This is the shaft that holds the throwout bearing in place inside the bell housing of the trans.  As you press the clutch pedal in the car, it allows the pressure plate to engage and disengage.  It is common for these to fatigue, bend, or break over time, and require replacement.  Also known as the operating shaft or throwout bearing fork.
