Worn out starter bushings are a common failure that can cause a starter to malfunction and eventually fail.  They should ALWAYS be replaced if replacing the starter.  This bushing fits 1966 & earlier transaxles that were originally 6V, adapting it to fit a 12V starter when the car has been converted.
