Monitoring oil temp in your air-cooled VW engine is crucial, especially if it's a high performance engine.  This gauge is of excellent quality, and compatible with VDO 300 degree F sending units. It fits the industry standard 52mm mounting hole.  It requires installation of a sending unit. We recommend using a VDO 323-064, which replaces the stock plug in the bottom of your engine case where the relief valve is installed.  Easy peasy. Ideally, you want your temperature to stay between 180 and 220 degrees.
