This is a replacement sand seal for cases that have not been machined. This seal has an aluminum collar that slips into the stock case opening and encapsulates the seal. It is used on sand sealed pulleys that are "bolt-in". It prevents dirt from entering the case through the crankshaft pulley opening, and prevents oil from leaking there, too. The pulley must be a sand-sealed pulley, as well. It measures 2.260" OD and 1.725" ID.
